Votecast is a UK system run by a world-wide non-profit organisation called PPL.

PPL is a non-government organisation with the aim of giving people the opportunity to take part and participate actively in determining issues which concern them. This can either be issues that are currently taken up by parliament, and which is to be voted for by Members of Parliament, or issues which are presented by the people, groups of people, for the purpose of addressing an issue, which concern society at whole or the individual presenting the issue. PPL aims to make it easier for people to make a change, and to influence or express their opinions to the decision takers, who are representing them.

Votecast functions as a communication tool, not only between people who want to address the politicians, but also politicians who want to communicate directly to people and at the same time meet their wishes and listen to their voice.

Also Votecast will lay the foundation for a broader understanding and feeling of co-existence. It will decrease the gap not only between politicians and people, but also people with different opinions, by giving people the opportunity to argue for their opinion, find new opinions, learn the opinions of others, and at the same time respect and tolerate the outcome of the majority´s decision. Be it to their favour or not.

Votecast also allows people to restart issues which either they feel has not been thoroughly presented, or issues they consider as still relevant.

One of the things that can be done with Votecast as a user is to suggest an alternative issue to a existing or current issue, whether it be a public issue or an official issue. Thereby people can address or point out an alternative, that they believe is addressing the aim of the issue better, or solving the target of the issue in wiser way.

Votecast gives the users of the site the opportunity to form groups, consisting of people who pursue common goals, or have a common interest in influencing the decision takers for a common matter.

By all means PPL is working on the frontiers of democracy, to create an excellent communication tool, to reach agreements and make decisions that involve people and allows them to express their idea, express their view, and make their choice.
